This is a rendering of an actual scene in And Then He Kissed Me. (Chapter 15, Long After Tonight Is All Over, if you're interested.) 

 

It takes place in Eric's flat after the boys have been to the gay mod club in Soho, Le Duce (a real club). The experience of being able to dance and be openly affectionate in relative safety was a hugely liberating moment for Tommy and Eric. When they returned home, they danced again and had a very emotional moment together.
